Hey hey hey!
Well, the good news it, I didn't kill myself playing Paul Bunyan Lumberjack. 2 hours, 2 flyin chainsaws (neither of which I operated, thank you very much!) and 50 zillion big a$$ed branches later (yup, hauling was my job) we now have half a tree that will hopefully grow back! And a messy yard. Good thing I didn' care too much about what it looked like for this weekend (oh yeah, enter in info about 20 people over for a family picnic :-P) Eh, it'll make good dinner conversation, right? That's what I keep telling myself :-)
On to today. One would think that I wouldn't have too many dumb ideas left in my brain, but hey, I never run out of 'em.
I passed on the full marathon.
I didn't register for the 100 mile triathlon (though I was SORELY tempted to. Cross between a 70.3 and 140.6? Drool. The huz threw out a few threats though, and he's pretty mild mannered, so I suppose it's best to keep him on my good side. Yeah, you heard that right. :-D)
But...seeing as he's doing the Rochester Triathlon in 3 weeks, I can't sit by and watch, right? I mean, that's what started this whole mess 7 years ago! (Sodus..our first tri...the ultimate product in the "I'm sitting and watching you" challenge).
So....sine I can run (albeit slowly).....whats wrong with another tri? Surely I can do it! Might have been smart to sign up for the sprint, cause I'm not really training.
Hey, we covered this.
So I'm in! For the RAT's (yep, thats Rochester Area Triathletes) annual tri, August 25th! An Olympic race (1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 10k run) along Durand Park in Irondequoit. Looks like an interesting race. The course is....2 loops in Lake Ontario (hopefully it wont be 55 degrees!), 4 loops on the bike (closed to traffic, how great is that??) and a nice out and back along the water for the 10k.
It'll be my first Olympic distance race other than Keuka since NYC tri in 2006. Wow.
And while I'm not looking to break any records, I do have a few goals in mind. Mostly speed relating to the bike :-P I need some redemption from Musselman!!
Now the question is...do I train for this one? Or just kinda fly by the seat of my (bike) shorts? Hmmm. Questions, questions.
