Well, it's really about that time. As much as I hate to admit it, 2011 race season is over. Phew. I have one more small race (Turkey Trot) but that's always a fun, low key run, so I think, for all intensive purposes, we'll call this season a wrap. Time for a look back on the best and worst of 2011!
2011 Races:
1 Sprint: Sodus Point
1 Olympic: Keuka
1 Half Ironman: Musselman
1 Ironman : Chesapeakeman
1 duathlon - no race report. Just alot of rain. ALOT. And 40 degree temps.
1 marathon: National Marathon2 Half marathons: Flower City and Geneseo
1 10 mile road race- just for fun, no race report :-)
Woah, what a full season! Clearly I diversified....aside from the half marathon distance, I ran the gamut from sprint tri to Ironman, hitting one of every distance. I'm pretty happy with that :-) (and yes, I realize I'm just a tad crazy. I can live with that).
Looking back at my season goals....
*A sub 4 hour marathon
*A sub 6 hour HIM
*A sub 13 hour IM
I think it would be easier to say I only hit one out of the 3 (12:50 Ironman, baby!) but looking a bit further, I am pretty content with the following....
*A Half marathon PR (by 3 minutes-seconds from a sub 1:50!)
*A marathon PR by 30 minutes
*An Ironman PR by over an hour!
I can live with those. With a smile on my face, to boot!
So what's next? Off season. Yoga. Dance class. And some re-commitment to my family, friends and poor neglected house. What will 2012 bring? Who knows! :-) But I do know it will be good....can't wait for the next adventure!
And on a side note....in reference to my little lame post yesterday....if you get a ticket in West Syracuse, just pay the damned fine. I wasted 4 hours of my life to get 4 points reduced to 3 and pay the same f'n fine. I would go into more detail, but unless I wanted to waste another 4 hours at a so called "trial" (don't ask me why I had to waste my time last night if I didn't even get to argue my case), I just pled to 24 in a 20 and left it at that. I'm such a bada$$. Psshhh.
what a great season you had, looking forward to seeing what your up to this year. What about the American Triple T or the American Zufingen, they seem right up your alley.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I hope we can train together come spring!
ReplyDeleteNice season, Rae. Can't wait to see your 2012 schedule :)
ReplyDeletefunny to read your post as i just posted on my lack of motivation to train in the pool or on the bike now that the weather has changed. Maybe I need to rethink yoga- sounds refreshing and relaxing. Congratulations on your wonderful racing season. I will also be turkey trotting in Baldwinsville, NY on Thanksgiving. Gotta run to eat lots of turkey!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I would love to run together!
Donna-Ive never heard of those races, definitely want to look into them...i would love something different :-)
Fittitude-I was there last year....post season was a struggle. I know you can find something fun thats not SBR!!
