Well, now, there are two words you don't often see together, right? Well, I meant them :-) After a crazy weekend at casa Glaser, it's actually not too bad to settle back into the routine (if you can call life that. Ever!) But Monday here we are. And aside from the moaning and you-know-whating about having to set the alarms (or, as the hubster calls them, those disgusting "dots"), and the fact that Monday's are technically a "day off" from training (yuck), Monday, hello Monday. So, instead of being grumpy, I've decided to look for ways to embrace the start of the work week. You might think I'm nuts, and if you are just realizing that, you must not have been reading the blog for very long that's fine with me :-) But the real question is, how can we make the dreaded "M" day and the dreaded "R" day (recovery) more enjoyable? Well, funny you should ask....
1. Buy yourself some flowers. Preferably fun crazy daisies. Cause they make you smile and for no other reason for the fact that flowers just weren't meant to be that color.
2. The website http://1000awesomethings.com/. Go there. Trust me. Things you take for granted, like Making a baby laugh (293) or Riding home with a box of pizza on your lap (626) will never look the same!
3. Drinking a glass of freshly made sun tea. With a straw. And a slice of lemon. On a 90 degree day (like today). Wonderful.
4. Watching a movie on the couch and lazing around like a vegetable. Snuggle buddy an added bonus.
5. 20 minutes of yoga for stretching and restoration. Nice recovery workout.
6. Eating a really big salad filled with deliciousness of summer. Today's pick: Grilled chicken, apple, and scallions over romaine, drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette, served with hummus toast. YUM.
7. And to piggy back off of #6, eating an uber healthy dinner so you have room for dessert! Vanilla bean ice cream with reese's pieces and marshmallows. Waist friendly? Nope. Delicious? You betcha!!
8. Going for a sunset walk post dinner and playing on the swings at the local elementary school. Cause you're never too old to do that!
9. Committing a random act of kindness. Making other people smile usually puts a smile on my face!
10. Unplugging and turning in early with a good book. And a furball. (Make sure said furball is sober though! :-))
And Happy Monday to you! Here's to a good one!
