It was sunny.
55 degrees.
Gorgeous day for November 12th (in Upstate NY)
But I didn't want to.
I made all the excuses...I'm tired. My legs hurt. I haven't done this in 4 weeks. It's too windy.
Meh.
And as much as I tried...they called out to me. Please put us on. You know you want to. Even thought you broke up with us 4 weeks ago...we aren't mad. Let's try this.
Fine, I said. I'll give you 15 minutes...then I'm coming back.
So we stepped out into the world....and ran. Tentatively, at first. Unsure of our rhythm, after 28 days of being apart. Then we settled into a comfortable pace as the miles ticked off, surprisingly enjoyable and without pain.
The sun was shining, the wind blowing the leaves in a playful dance, and the temperature just nippy enough to make sweat enjoyable.
And an hour passed, without any blisters, aches, pains, and just a few huffing and puffing moments as we traversed up and down the hills of Gananda.
A little over 7 miles later, we arrived back at my front door....slightly tired,
but smiling, at what we had accomplished.
but smiling, at what we had accomplished.
And as I pulled off my Asics, my running buddies, I promised not to wait as long next time before calling them to play again.
