Week 35: No Half Baked.

So I am officially 36 weeks today...let the record show that I never made it to 37 the first time....Rob was pegged at 36.5 weeks.  IShhhh...don't tell my boss that.  I get the impression lately that he might think that I'm just sort of kidding about this whole baby thing...or that I might just drop it during a lunch break then come back for my 2pm meeting with him cause...why not?  Seriously, I love my job but right now I'm about ready to be done :-)  During an event freak out (we are hosting a lunch next Tuesday for kinship care month because we are nuts) I told him that if I didn't love my job I would be entirely checked out amidst onesies and diaper pre-runs.  He totally got it and quoted Spongebob cause that's how we roll.

In other news, I am up to here pregnant and have even been having some nasty swelling lately, which I managed to avoid 99% of this pregnancy - blame the 90 degree heat!  Thankfully, my rockin hot pink compression sleeves (nothing says pregnant runner like compression, yes?) and early morning swims at the Gananda pool have been a livesaver!  We also did a nice family trip up to Alex bay this weekend to spend some time with my brotha from anotha motha and his family and had such a wonderful time, which was great for a nice little breather and break from reality (no cell or internet = awesome).

So what's my lil nuggster up to this week?

Week 35

Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (about the size of a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

This poor kid is so regulated to bathroom selfies...
Total Weight Gain: Up 22.5 pounds.  All in the belly.  And it really shows!

Cravings: Grapies (as Rob would say), cashews, and diet coke.  Trying to take it easy on the acid, but oh man, it is so good.  Hey, if I can't have a glass of red.....

Aversions: Swelling.  3-4 times a night wake ups.  Braxton Hicks.  SLOWING DOWN!  I finally realized after a hellish 3 hour car ride on Sunday that I cannot, in fact, go 90 miles an hour anymore.  This saddens me.  I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off, and then wanted to do my own relaxing by riding my bike...and I couldn't.  It gave me all the sads.  I am not a resting on the couch kinda girl...even though I know I'll have no time to do it post baby :-P

Sleep: Meh.  BNL says, "Who Needs it?"  They are right.  I just give up at this point.

Baby Items Bought/Received: A godfather.  Can't beat that.  We asked my friend Drew to be Nugget's godfather and he agreed.  So happy - he had the best time with Rob this past weekend and it's obvious how good he is with kiddos.  Busted, buddy. I love ya.

Best Baby Moment: Greg and I decided on two girl names and two boy names pretty firmly, so thankfully Nugget will not, in fact, have to be a nugget forever.  Whew.

Goals: Let's get to September.  Baby steps.  No August babies!

Everyone gets a beer but Mom.  It's not fair.
Worries: Time is moving so fast!  I realize that every mom says that, and I myself am victim to that fact for Rob all the time, but it's getting real that I am almost at the end of this pregnancy...and being pregnant forever (YES, I AM ONLY HAVING TWO!)  I am ready to be done with this kiddo baking, but it's still sad to think that it's the last pregnancy experience :-)

This Week:
Run: 0 miles
Bike: 93 miles
Swim: 3 miles
Total: 96 miles

To Date:
Run: 353.3 miles
Bike: 2260 miles
Swim: 90 miles
Total: 2651.3 miles...or, the distance from Rochester, NY to Bogota, Columbia.  Not so sure about that Nugget, thats some pretty crazy 'splorin'!

Week 34: $hit gets real, yo

Week 34, yikes!  I know I say that every week, but its so weird to know that if last time was any sort of indicator....I have about 2 weeks left.  OMG OMG!!  Luckily, I had some time this past week, so I washed all baby clothes, installed the car seat, cleaned out the house a bit, and sterilized bottles, etc.  Silly things.  But they made me feel better and somewhat more equipped to deal with a nugget, lol.  We still have quite a list of things to do, including some basement clean out and freezer meal making.  But we might be in good shape...for now!  Enough about me, though - let's talk about the star of the show, shall we?

Week 34:

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (about the size of a cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Total Weight Gain: Up 21.5 pounds - amazing what a few days off will do!  Doc says I am at the healthy low end of weight gain, so its all good.  Also, I am no longer anemic, yay!

Week 5
Week 34
Cravings: Fresh fruit and Popsicles.  Of course, it could be the fact that it's 90 degrees out so....maybe it's just a summer thing.  Rob agrees - we eat about 3 icees a day (thank goodness they are low sugar :-))

Aversions: Sleeping through the night.  Freaking again.  Every night I'm up at 1am and 5am.  Nugget.  COME ON.

Sleep: see above.  I've also had quite a few BH contractions - nothing crazy, just enough to be annoying.  Doc says to hydrate and stop running outdoors.  Yeah, I wasn't about to do that anyways....when it's this hot, the treadmill and I are BFF's!

Baby Items Bought/Received:A coming home outfit for nugget and a gift from rob to nugget.  Can't wait to share :-)
Best Baby Moment: The constant heads up from the kiddo I get at least once an hour...MOM, I'm here!  Yep, I know nugget.  And thankfully I think your Daddy and I might just have picked out a name for you FINALLY.  But we do have 5 weeks to change our minds....Nugget's a good name, right??

Goals: Make it to 37 weeks.  I could be so wrong but I believe this will be another early child!  I would like to throw out labor day as an option (LOL).  Also partial to September 14th :-)

Worries: Please no labor yet kiddo.  I am not ready.  Thank you, Love, Mom.

This Week:
Run: 3 miles
Bike: 105 miles
Swim: 1 mile
Total: 104 miles

To Date:
Run: 353.3 miles
Bike: 2157 miles
Swim: 87 miles
Total: 2545.3 miles...or, the distance from Rochester, NY to Juneau, Alaska.  Oh nugget, you are good!!

Week 33: Divin' Right in!!

Well, here we are, done with another week.  This past week has been a crazy week - budget deadlines, lots of work OT, out of town guest, family picnic, and a "race"!  Yikes!  Hoping week 34 is more low key...baby and Momma both need it!  So what's nugget up to this week?
Yikes, another week gone by???  Well, time is flying, as always....I MAY be at the stage where I have had a few melt downs about wishing for my pre pregnancy body and stamina back (hey, it's tri season.  I'm human).  But then Nugget reminds me of how cool he/she is with a little impromptu dance party.  God I love this kid already!

Week 33

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark (about the size of a pineapple - my boss would like this....he is obsessed!). He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Total Weight Gain: Up 21 pounds.  It's been a stress eating, salt laden week, so who knows how much is baby, how much is cake, and how much is wine.  Just kidding on that last part.  I wish I wasn't...I would kill for a glass of wine! :-P

Cravings: Lemonade, cheese, and baked potatoes.  MMMM.  Still weirdo cravings from normal. but most are healthy so I won't complain!

Aversions: Chocolate.  Oh kid, you're killin' me.  For reals.

Sleep: is for sissies.  I've woken up one too many times with work on the brain at 3am, and have resorted to some QT couch time.  Poor Greg.  I adore my job, but only a male boss would tell me that he hopes to "get the ground running" on September 1.  With what, a 37 week preggo woman?  I laughed.  Out loud.  And since he has a sense of humor, he didn't fire me.  (Ok, he laughed back.  I have the best boss).
Who needs sleep?

Baby Items Bought/Received: More diapers.  They had a deal for 380 diapers for $18 after gift cards ($53 oout of pocket and $35 in target gift cards back).  I know, I know.  But I'll be such a happy momma when I NEVER HAVE TO BUY THEM.

Best Baby Moment: "Racing" Sodus this past weekend (report coming).  I have raced this course every year since 2005- would I let an 8 month preggo body stop me?  Nahhhh....stay tuned (No, I did not officially participate.  You can breathe now).

Goals: Rest.  Finish house must haves.  Pack hospital bag.  Install car seat. AHHHH!!!!

Worries:  I'm past it.  I must be a parent.
This Week:
Run: 12 miles
Bike: 72 miles
Swim: 3 miles
Total: 87 miles

To Date:
Run: 350.3 miles
Bike: 2052 miles
Swim: 86 miles
Total: 2441.3 miles...or, the distance from Rochester, NY to Greenland.  We have officially crossed international borders...sweet!!

Week 32: Here comes the Sun!

Your pregnancy: Week 32

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb.

Moving alot?  You don't say.  Lil nuggster likes to throw dance parties with regularity, which gives this momma to be a reason to smile - love that kiddo says "hi mom!"  all the time.

Total Weight Gain: Up 19.5 pounds.  Belly seems super huge this week - even my uncle said he thinks I'm surpassing his "baby bump"!

My Body:  Bee sting gone.  Ivy gone.  Prednisone, I hate you but I love you.  After a nauseous and sicky week brought entirely on by the meds and the fact that my staff deserted me (oh, ok, with my blessing) AND moving office space...I'm pooped.  I've had a few melt downs, a few tantrums, and then just sat back and admitted defeat....with some cookies.  And life is good.  Hoping life gets a little less stressful after this weekend!

Cravings: Cheese puffs.  Cherries.  Iced tea.  And popsicles (which is shared by Rob....hey, what's good for mama...)

Aversions: Oatmeal.  Maybe it's the summer, though.

Sleep: Nuh uh.  I've resorted to the couch becuase it's just not fair to Greg....I get about 3 hours a night.  Just can't get comfy, but I think its stress again.  I went to my OB and my BP is up again - of course, high for me is 118/78,  so I'll just show myself the door (normal bp 90/60-65.  I'm probably clinically dead.

Baby Items Bought/Received: A matching set.  That's all I'll say :-)

Best Baby Moment: Nugget is the coolest kid ever.  I don't need to do kick counts, because I get tap dances every 30 minutes or so like clockwork, unless I'm working out.  But then past 11pm...nothin'.  Am I sleep training my child in utero??  Fingers crossed.

Goals: To get some awesome maternity shots this weekend - it's our family picnic at Stoneybrook on Saturday (and our anniversary!) and Greg and I are hoping to steal away to get some shots and have a nice hike together :-))

Worries:  Just want sleep.  And to freeze time...I will never be ready for this kiddo, but that's life :-P

This Week:
Run: 7 miles
Bike: 80 miles
Swim: 2 miles
Total: 89 miles

To Date:
Run: 338.3 miles
Bike: 1980 miles
Swim: 83 miles
Total: 2353.3 miles...or, the distance from Rochester, NY to San Francisco.  Ahh, love it there.  And Nugget, can you pick me up some Boudoins and Ghiridelli while you're out that way?  Don't get stuck at Alcatraz :-P
