Week 27 - Welcome to the Main Event

Welcome to trimester 3, nugget!  We kicked off this week with a bang by getting our glucose test results - a big fat negative for gestational diabetes (yay!) and, no shocker, found out I am anemic.  Which is funny, because I was really looking for an excuse to eat some Bill Gray's Burgers....doctor's orders!  Pregnancy perks aren't all that frequent, but this is definitely one :-)

Your Pregnancy:  Week 27

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Total Weight Gain: Up 14 pounds this week (as of yesterday).  I'm apparently a boring, model pregnant woman.  Normally boring would annoy me, in this case, Ill take it!
My Body A hot mess.  Apparently poison ivy loves me to pieces, and we are still bffs.  I've started getting spots on my tummy and hands, which means it's personal now.  Drowning myself in the pool and oatmeal baths, but I'm still a miserable mess.  However, externally, my basketball

Cravings:Nothing too special.  I've been loving shredded chicken breast with salsa and veggies, and also still loving tuna fish with chopped celery and Italian dressing.  Been drinking alot of Iced tea, and still, of course, on the cheese kick!

Aversions: Itching.  Nighttime waking.  Mosquito's.  Rain.  Work.  It's a mad, mad world, folks.

Sleep: This sucks.  I'm up twice a night itching like a mad woman.  I feel bad for the guys in my life - it cannot be restful to have a crazy preggo muttering curses under her breath as you try to sleep!

Baby Items Bought/Received: A few more diapers - 65 ct for $4.50, cant beat it :-)  Also got the curtains for baby's room from Mom - it's almost done, Ill post a new pic next week!

Best Baby Moment: We went over to a neighbors house a few days ago and they have a son who is one month younger than Rob, and they just had a baby girl a few months back.  Rob and the little boy were being shy, but Rob thought the baby was the coolest thing - he kept saying "baby!" and going over to her and rocking her car seat.  We showed him how to be gentle, but he obviously was really intrigued by her.  So sweet to watch, I think he will be a great big brother!!

Goals: Throw a bang up birthday party for my soon to be 2 year old - it's gonna be a Mickey Mouse kinda weekend!  So excited!!

Worries:  Whats the world record for poison ivy?  Theoretically, of course, ya know.....

This Week:
Run: 8 miles
Bike: 80 miles
Swim: 4 miles
Total: 92 miles

To Date:
Run: 299.1 miles
Bike: 1561 miles
Swim: 65.5 miles
Total: 1898.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Belize!  Hey, we have family there, maybe they would welcome a visitor :-)

Week 26: Who Wore it Better?

So, Greg, who is an avid reader of the blog and fabulous supporter of my random ramblings, (bless him) was reading last week's updates and said - hey!  Your bump updates are great, but maybe people would like to see a comparison shot from kiddo one - sort of a side by side?

Genius, that husband of mine.  I know there are about 5 people that care about my belly in this world, including me, but for the other four that ask me if I'm bigger this time or what...here ya go - Who wore the bump best?

Preggo lady week 26 - Baby One:
Preggo lady week 26 - Baby Two:

Hmmmm....I've gained exactly the same amount of weight to date, but I think my belly is a titch bigger this time.  You can't see my face in NUgget's pic, but my face isn't as puffy this time (yay for small favors!) and I seem to have centered all my weight betwen my shoulders and hips this time.
Overall, not too different though :-)  Better shots next week!

So what's up with lil Nuggster this week?
Your Pregnancy: Week 26
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (a lunchbox) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

Go kiddo!  We have had some really deep conversations lately...ya know, about pizza and Orange is the New Black.  Poor kid.

Total Weight Gain: Up 13 pounds.  At least I'm consistent.

My Body I feel freaking huge.  I think the lack of maternity clothes is totally due to the season - maxi skirts, skirts, yoga pants, and and lulus are all very comfy and belly accommodating!

Cravings: Getting back to that Bill Gray's burger....LOL.  Also been loving on tabbouleh this past week - mixed with grilled chicken, tomatoes, and broccoli.  YUM.

Aversions: Oatmeal is disgusting.  Again.  Good thing pancakes and egg sandwiches are super easy!  Also, can we talk about the glucose drink for gestational diabetes?  BARF.

Sleep: Non Existent.  With my poison Ivy itching (seriously, what 32 year old gets it???) and nugget dancing on my bladder, I'm up at least a few times a night.

Baby Items Bought/Received: Registered the lil Nug for daycare starting in 2016 - other than that, nothing!

Best Baby Moment: Time for bowl movement (not thats not a typo)....When I have a snack at night, Nugget likes to kick my bowl over or make it move on my belly (MOM, get this offa me!)  Cracks me up every time.

Goals: Get back on running.  Low week this week - just been uncomfortable, so more biking and swimming.  I only ran once!

Worries:  Same ole, same ole.  I wonder if I could hire a nanny/housekeeper and pay them in couponed toiletries and hugs?  Anyone?  LOL

This Week:
Run: 4 miles
Bike: 85 miles
Swim: 3 miles
Total: 92 miles

To Date:
Run: 291.1 miles
Bike: 1481 miles
Swim: 61.5 miles
Total: 1808.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Puerto Rico!  Not a place I'm driven to visit, but hey, Nugget, go ahead!

Week 25 - Clear Fluids and Calamine

Well, this has not been the week of champions.  Not only did the plague of the stomach bug descend on our house (a miserable 18 hours for me and 48 for Greg - somehow Rob got lucky, thank goodness!) but I managed to get Poison Ivy somehow and have been itching to beat the band.  Seriously, am I six or what??  Thankfully, lil Nugget seems to be unaffected as well (kids got good genes!) and is growing like a weed!....

Your Pregnancy: Week 25
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Total Weight Gain: Up 12 pounds.  Thank goodness...I swear I lost a pound or two on Friday alone but I must be making up for it!  As a fun note, I've gained exactly as much with Nugget as I had with Rob at this point.  How boring am I???

My Body Belly is gettin bigger!  Someone from work told me I am getting "HUGE" today....news flash, folks, NO WOMAN likes to hear that one.  Yeesh.  Still not maternity clothes yet but I'm into my larger shirts and bought a few maxi skirts that may as well be maternity in all their comfiness (but wearable post baby - SWEET!!)

Cravings: popsicles.  MMMM.  I bought a mold for $2 on ebay and have been making lemonade sicles all week, which are beyond delish.

Aversions: Nothin. nothin.  Still off bananas and yogurt, but thats a big ole preggo thing for me by now I guess!

Sleep: Not too bad.  Rough when I was sick and Greg, too, but other than that I've had a few solid 6 hour stretches without potty or wake ups.  Sweet.  I'll take what I can get!!

Baby Items Bought/Received: Wallpaper border and some diapers.  WHAT?  $9 for 130 diapers and $10 CVS bucks back = free diapers.  C'mon.  You would have done it too.

Best Baby Moment: Time for bowl movement (not thats not a typo)....When I have a snack at night, Nugget likes to kick my bowl over or make it move on my belly (MOM, get this offa me!)  Cracks me up every time.

Goals: Signed up for another 5k in July - hey, why not?  Seriously, though, the goal this week is to get back on track with house/nugget prep.  Last week killed us both.

Worries:  That damn glucose test is this week.  I freaking hate that drink.   WHY can't they give us a candy bar?  It would be so much tastier, c'mon!  (File this under annoyances, not worries, lol!)

This Week:
Run: 4 miles
Bike: 80 miles
Swim: 2 miles
Total: 86 miles

To Date:
Run: 287.1 miles
Bike: 1396 miles
Swim: 58.5 miles
Total: 1715.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Montego Bay, Jamaica.  Ahhh, paradise!

Week 24 - Off Roadin

Two dozen down, and sixteen (ish) left to go!  What are we up to this week?

Your Pregnancy: Week 24
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (about the size of a beach bucket!), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Total Weight Gain: Up 11 pounds.  Bit by bit....probably time to indulge in some chocolate, right?  My daycare provider told me I grow "little baby bumps".  Always something every woman wants to hear, right? :-)

My Body Gettin rounder day by day!  Seem to be carrying this one similar to Rob - some people might guess about the sex, but I think it's just the way I carry bebes.  Either way, I have to pee every 10 minutes.  This does not bode well, folks.....

Cravings: Nothing too out of the ordinary.  Still on the cheese bandwagon, as always.  Also been a big fan of cherries this week, but I'm not sure thats a pregnancy thing - cherries are ALWAYS delicious IMO!

Aversions: Soda.  Get it away.  (Can this last?  That would be awesome!)

Sleep: Terrible.  Not only are bathroom breaks common place but the damned neighbors and their dog at 4am is killing me.  I might have taken a few steps to eliminate this....when the dog wakes everyone up and your one year old decides 4:30 is a great time to give a piano concert, the game has officially stopped being fun.

Baby Items Bought/Received: Bought some decorations for Nugget's room - we are going Jungle Animals!

Best Baby Moment: Family run at Mendon Mauler.  It might not have been the race we were hoping for, but this is our first family of 4 event and it rocked!!

Goals: Sleep through the night.  C'mon, we can make this happen!  Also, Gananda garage sale is this weekend.  I don't need much but if a few cute baby outfits happen to be on sale....Nugget can wear some unique stuff, too!!!

Worries: How am I almost in the 3rd freaking trimester???  Where has the time gone, seriously????

This Week:
Run: 9 miles
Bike: 70 miles
Swim: 5 miles
Total: 84 miles

To Date:
Run: 283.1 miles
Bike: 1316 miles
Swim: 56.5 miles
Total: 1635.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Albuquerque, NM.  Seriously one of the coolest sounding cities in the US!

Mendon Mauler 2015 - A Family Affair

Hi Everyone!  This past weekend, the whole Glaser casa participated in the "Mendon Mauler" a 4, 8, 12 mile trail run.  We are pretty much trail newbs...we have done a few off road du's and a 20k trail run in mendon so when the special went up January 1 for $10 for any distance, we went for broke!  I signed up for the 12 miler and greg the 8 miler.  Two weeks later....double lines and nugget appeared :-)  I still thought the 12 miler was doable but after talking to some people that ran it and watching a Go Pro video, some of the descents (and my wise other half) convinced me that 8 miles was the smart choice for both me and for me as a soon to be mama.  With that in mind, Greg and I approached as a low key training run, complete with the decision to NOT run any trails beforehand (not a smart choice) and to not wear our trail shoes since....2012 (even dumber).  So, with that...here comes the "report"!

Race morning, Greg, Rob and I got ready to go - Rob was signed up for the kids race and super excited!  We ate some pbj bagels and drove to Mendon, played on the swings, said hello to some of our runner friends, and Rob chilled with Gramma and Uncle Alan while Greg and I got ready to head to the start.  The 12 mile folks went off at 8, so about 8:20 we headed over to the start line.  This course was pretty famous for some wicked single track, tree grabbing ascents and descents, and a snapping turtle to boot.  It seems as if Boots, the RD, decided that the mantra "you must curse once during a trail run" should be repeated many, many times per 4 mile loop.  (Challenge accepted, Boots.  See you for the 12 miler in 2016! :-D)  And now, I'll turn it over to Nugget...who reports on the race so much better than Mom :-P

Start- Mile 1 (11:21)  Dad gave Mom a "mooch" (as Rob calls em!) and headed off to start ahead.  Mom promised Dad she WOULD NOT RACE and that Dad should fullye xpect to beat the pants off her!  I told Dad I would make sure she played it smart.  Mom checked her hydration (good), gave a stretch, and with the GO!  We were off!  And then....not.  We raced across a muddy field (yay for getting dirty!) leapt over a ditch with a single bound, and then....hit a wall of runners at a single track.  Doh.  We didn't care too much but we stayed there for a good 30 seconds trying to get some space....which was pretty typical for mile 1.  It was gorgeous, but for the race venue, a bit crowded!  Seems trail running is getting super popular, but since we weren't going for a time, we were good.  Mom wanted to come in around 45-48....I said we would see.  After some good climbing and careful descents, we clocked mile 1 in just over 11.  Mom was complaining that her feet hurt and i said she was kinda dumb for not training for this in trails (duh) or wearing her shoes( double duh).  She told me it wasn't nice to call people dumb but she agreed...she wasn't smart.

Mile 2:  27:52  Yikes.  We did super good for the first 3/4 of this mile...walking/hiking the uphills, watching our footfalls, and carefully navigating downhills.  This was not a course for a steady heart rate but we were having so much fun!  Until...we saw a familiar figure up ahead....Daddy!  I got super excited to see him but Mom said that it wasn't good that he wasn't running...so we went to go check it out.  Turned out Dad got mauled....a silly rock leapt out at him and he rolled his knee.  Boo to that.  We walked with Dad for about 5 minutes and then he told us to stop being silly geese and go.  He said he could walk to the finish and that he was doing 4.  I told Mom the only right thing to do would be to stick with Dad and she said I was a smart guy.  So we told Dad we would run the flats and navigate the ups and downs and find him to finish!

Mile 3:  41:16  We started running again and 3 minutes later....there was Dad!!  He decided that running the uphills was good, but walking was good with downhills and flats.  So we ran/walked, and leapfrogged according to what worked best - it was so much fun!!

Mile 4:  54:26  Wait....wheres the finish?  Oh well, more to run!  This mile was super fun  - a massive climb and then a tree grabbing descent that Mom and I handled like a pro!  Yay!!  We passed Daddy after the descent, who had been workin the uphills!  We saw the turnoff to the finish and turned around to grab dad, who was on his way!  Then we ran the last bit to the finish - total ended up being 4.48 miles in 1:01....or, about a 13:30 mile.

Post race, Dad was kinda bummed because his knee hurt and he wanted to run 8.  Mom was a little bummed because she didn't really race, and wanted to do 8 (which is her silly style) but I reminded her that DUH she is running for two and I reminded Dad that DUH he isn't a trail runner and had been training for a trial and that they are both rockstars!!

And then....Rob reminded us that HELLO, he was racing too!!

So we got changed, had some melon, and Rob and I chatted for a bit...he gave me a "mooch" and I said, "Kill it bro!"

Which he did, of course.  Can't believe my older brother has run two races!!  (Not as fast as me but hey, Mom says it's hard work moving little legs and I will see how hard it is in two years!)
You bet I will, Rob.  But in the meantime....I'm freakin proud of ya (I did NOT say that.  Mooom....why did you publish that!!)
PS- Mom says she WILL be running the 12 miler next year.  Beware, Mauler, we WILL be back!!  Muahahahaha

Week 23: Baby Movin!

Seems as if we have finally kicked off the "belly" stage - let's rock n roll Nugget!  (Who seems to be doing plenty of rock n rolling inside my tummy - I have another soccer player on my hands!)

Your Pregnancy: Week 23
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a sand bucket!), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

Total Weight Gain: Up 10.5 pounds.  Official weigh in at OB office!  Steady as she goes.

My Body It seems I am officially pregnant.  LOL.  I have had 3 people stop me this week and
comment that it was about time I finally was showing - seems some people thought I might just be eating tons of pasta :-P  (not really, but there was some jesting about thinking I was joking about the whole thing!)

Cravings: Tuna fish.  Still.  And cherries.  Mmmm.....loving my fruit!  Also, tortilla chips were on sale at Tops this week so I've been enjoying poor man's nachos (chips n shredded cheese....mmm).  Hey, indulgences are good!

Aversions: Nothing in particular.  Off oats again, but its just because pbjs and fruit seem to be the breakfast of choice.  Nothing like eating as a toddler would :-)

Sleep: A hot mess this week.  There's alot of life stress going on, coupled with a larger tummy and some general un comfy-ness (is that even a word?) that sleep has been a crap shoot.  Sorry to everyone for my moodiness.  Guess I'm allowed once in awhile!

Baby Items Bought/Received: Believe it or not, none!  Probably will do some nursery shopping this week, but I've been working on birthday stuff for Rob....only a month away, I can't wait for his party!!

Best Baby Moment: Daddy finally got to feel some baby lovin this week!  He has felt some flutters but Nugget gave him a good dance party this weekend and they had a good "Dad to kiddo" chat.  I think the admiration is mutual :-)

Goals: Wash maternity clothes.  Not die in my trail race this weekend.  (Yes, people, I did drop down to the 8 miler.  I can listen to reason (sometimes).
Here Mom, you need this....no sleep for you, ever!

Worries: Will sleep through the night anymore during this pregnancy?  Could make for a long 3 months then a long first 6 months - a year.  How much do people really need sleep anyways?  Hmmm...something to ponder at 3am.

This Week:
Run: 11 miles
Bike: 75 miles
Swim: 4 miles
Total: 90 miles

To Date:
Run: 274.1 miles
Bike: 1246 miles
Swim: 51.5 miles
Total: 1551.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Quintana Roo!  Hey, as a 'roo owner, I'm glad I'm passing along that wisdom to Nugget~~
