Week 22: Peaches n Cream

Your Pregnancy: Week 22
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.

Total Weight Gain: Up 10 pounds.  At least, that's what the scale says post Bill Grays.  Oh yeah.  That happened.  If a normal weight gain is 25-35 pounds, I estimate there are at least 75 more cheeseburgers in my future.  Right?
Clearly, I need to buy new clothes #TuesdayUniform
My Body Must be a black and white thing.  I feel about 80 months pregnant.  My friend's wife is 2 due 2 weeks before me and he says I don't look pregnant at all.  Hmm.  My waist is up 7 inches, i FEEL most certainly pregnant, even though I am still in normal clothes.  However, I did was up my maternity clothes and some of Greg's more comfy tanks (what?  That's a wife's privilege!) and got them all ready.  I seem to recall needing these clothes about month 6 with Rob, so better to be prepared!

Cravings: Mmmmm...fruit.  I FINALLY got my Bill Grays Cheeseburger (mmm so delicious) so this week has been a raspberry and cheese week. and ice cream.  MMMM, delish.  Also, Tuna Fish.  How weird is that???

Aversions: Still no soda.  Add in chicken drumsticks.  Dark meat.  Blech.

Sleep: Starting to have middle of the night potty breaks and eating - seems my tummy needs a few crackers to make it through the night.  Here's where being the mom of a toddler helps - just pull on some huggies and have a fruit pouch.  I'm kidding.  Maybe... :-D

Baby Items Bought/Received: 40 packages of wipes.  Hey, they were 50 cents for 72 count!  I posted a pic of my diaper stockpile and while some people might think I am nuts for having 2200 diapers ready to go, who will be laughing at 2am when Greg and I are NOT doing a full priced diaper run?  Oh yeah, THIS GIRL :-P

Best Baby Moment: WE FINISHED PAINTING THE NURSERY!  YAY!!  I wish I could do justice
Nuggets Casa!
explaining what a pain in the you know what this was.  Let's just say that even though it's primer and paint, peach does NOT cover Olive well.  Even 3 coats.  #@*!@*#  We finally said eff the high walls, we'll get a border!  Still needs trim touch up, but the walls are good and Greg even put in a new window!  Such a handyman :-)

Goals: Move in rest of nursery furniture.  Move in "big boy" furniture to Rob's room.  Seriously consider that this child might have 7 middle names and no first name.  He/She might be a good lawyer.

Worries: Did I really sign up for a 12 mile trail race next week called the "Mendon Mauler"?  WTF is wrong with me?  (Nah, just kidding.  I mean, about the worry.  Not about the race!)

This Week:
Run: 15 miles
Bike: 70 miles
Swim: 2 miles
Total: 87 miles

To Date:
Run: 263.1 miles
Bike: 1171 miles
Swim: 46.5 miles
Total: 1461.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Houston, TX.  Not the place to be right now, but maybe I really have a water baby on my hands!  (That was terrible.  I know).

Week 21: Over the Hill

Well, not really.  But for all intents and purposes we are over the halfway hump, so we are in the home stretch?  Not even close.  It's like people that say in a marathon at 15 miles in "You're almost there!"  Shut up, people.  You aren't almost there until you see the friggin finish line.  Stay put, bambino, that's not a hint!

Your Pregnancy: Week 21
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Total Weight Gain: Up 8 pounds.  Apparently, I also seem to wear the same outfit on Tuesdays.  At least I change my shoes!
My Body In other news, even though 8 pounds isnt much, its all between shoulders and hips in the from which makes getting up a beast.  Might have to hire a forklift :-P  Exercise is going well, loving swimming best, which is no shocker, it was the same with Rob.  Of course, my gym pools heater shot the bed this week, so it's closed (yes, I am the crazy person who the health dept. pulled out of the water mid swim, c'mon, 70 degrees is NOT cold!) but thankfully we have a back up pool!  Running is going well, too, just need a bathroom break route but thankfully we have some good neighbors down the hill that have agreed to provide services!!

Cravings: Bill Gray's.  All of the time.  And also tuna fish now.  Careful not to eat too much of the latter, but its so damn good with celery and Italian dressing!  Yes, yes, I know I am a strange one.

Aversions: M&Ms and soda.  Wow, this baby must be a health nut!  I certainly won't force this one, I've just been loading up on Iced Tea which is friggin delicious during the warmer weather :-)

Sleep: Anxiety dreams are the theme this week.  Accidents, Family member injury, Rob getting hurt, baby problems.  This is quite normal but I certainly prefer my NC 17 dreams, thankyouvery much.  I just wish I could pick the male leads :-D

Baby Items Bought/Received: Second can of paint for the nursery.  Greg is a champ - this one is a bit harder - it's never easy to paint over a darker color with a light color!

Best Baby Moment: My little karate kid seems to be letting me know how active s/he is.  All over the place!  This week Rob went to kiss his baby sibling goodnight (yes, it's the sweetest thing ever) and the baby landed a sucker punch right as he did it!  Not too powerful by the outside world but the look on Rob's face was hilarious!

Goals: Finish painting.  Assemble crib.  Run for 2 miles without needing to pee (some of these goals are way more attainable).

Worries: I need a vacation.  Stress is killing me.

This Week:
Run: 9 miles
Bike: 83 miles
Swim: 4 miles
Total: 96 miles

To Date:
Run: 248.1 miles
Bike: 1101 miles
Swim: 44.5 miles
Total: 1374.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Bismark, North Dakota.  I really wanted to honeymoon there.  And no, I am not kidding.  Poor nugget, born to crazy people :-)

I Like Chinneeesseeee

As the temps get warmer, I start to think about all the fun summer things ahead to look forward to.  Iced Tea.  Popsicles.  Swimming.  Picnics.  Stoneybrook!  When I was a kid, our family drove down to Dansville at least 3 or 4 times each summer to grill out/picnic, walk along the waterfalls, and swim in the freezing cold water.  (BY freezing, I do mean that. One year it was 55).  I always got to bring a friend, and I went through quite the list to find one brave enough to jump into that water with me!  Some of my girlfriends did well, most boyfriends did not (Though they tried)...Then I hit jackpot.  My friends Drew and James were the best Stoneybrook partners ever.  At 6'1" and 6'#', I'm not sure they were quite what my shotgun lovin' Uncle preferred, but once he realized they were my brotha's from anotha motha, it was all good.  I remember so many great summer days filled with cannonballs, s'mores, sour cherries, and...Monty Python.  Yep, our music of choice (god help my parents).  While being sixteen and singing "I bet you they won't play this song on the radio" or the "Spam" song probably wouldn't be considered the epitome of coolness, we could care less.  It was fun.  And when you're a teenager, that's all that matters.  Especially when singing about cute and cuddly Asians.  Or, "I like Chinese".  And I do.

Their food is also top notch- and super healthy, if you make it yourself!  So when I spied Nasoya egg roll wrappers on sale at Tops, I knew it was a Beef n Broccoli night, with homemade egg rolls!

Easy Chicken Egg Rolls (makes 12 egg rolls)

12 egg roll wrappers
1 cup cubed chicken breast
1 cup scallions, diced
2 cups cabbage,shredded
1/2 cup carrot, shredded
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp minced ginger
1 tbsp minced garlic
2 tbsp soy sauce (Oyster is best, but I had none, so I subbed!)

Saute chicken and scallions in sesame oil for 3-5 minutes.  Add in carrot, cabbage, ginger, garlic, and soy sauce, reduce to low and simmer, covered for 10 minutes.  Turn off heat and let mixture cool (30 minutes).  Arrange egg roll wrapper at a diagonal, add in 3 tbsp of mixture (roughly) to center.  Fold bottom triangle up, sides in (like wrapping a gift!) then seal top edges with water and roll up to meet.  Repeat x 12.  Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 400 for 10-12 minutes, broil for one minute.

Serve alongside stir fry or have more as the main event!

MMMM, delish.  Maybe not quite as quick as midnight Wok, but a hell of alot healthier and much easier on Nugget.  And I won't complain about that :-)  Enjoy!

Week 20: Half Ain't Half

Halfway there!  Although, as we know- half ain't half.  Mile 13 of a marathon does not equal halfway!!

Your Pregnancy: Week 20

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana (we gotta keep this one - Rob's favorite foods are "manas"). (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.) Size wise, the baby is the size of a cantaloupe!  He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Total Weight Gain: Up 6.5 pounds.  Officially as of May 6, according to my OB.  They think I'm doing well - aside from

My Body: Gettin that cute preggo bump I think!  Even though it seems small, most days I feel like I have an elephant on my chest - I can certainly tell there is extra happening on the front!!  I'm still doing ok clothes wise, just wearing some looser shirts.  I get tired a bit easier, but staying active is the key - as much as I possibly can :-)

Cravings: Nothing special or over the top.  If I could eat a Bill Gray's cheeseburger every day, I so would.  But since my digestive system would kill me, we limit it to a burger a week.  Cheese, however, is a daily staple!

Aversions: Still the same. Also really including work in this theme - I need a vacation, stat.  Bed rest, doc?  JUST KIDDING!

Sleep: Still seem to be writing my own romance novels via dream state - I am such the heroine in my dreams!  My knights in shining armor are quite...interesting.  No Joshua Jackson yet, but I'm hopeful!

Baby Items Bought/Received: Up to 2200 diapers.  Target had a friggin awesome deal going on where I scored 1100 diapers for $66 with $30 in gift cards leftover - I might make diaper buying my job, seriously.  Oddly enough, its somewhat addictive,

Best Baby Moment: Momma's Day!  It wasn't restful, but awesome.  Greg and I had over a bunch of relative mommas for brunch, and it was wonderful.  Plus I got alot of smooches and love from my first baby and some hello there's from Nugget, which is all a mom can ask for.
And a solo run.  And a foot rub.  My husband rocks.  Also - nugget ultrasound!  We got to see kiddo in action for the first time - so precious :-)  Even if they look....not human.  In the best way :-D

Goals: House prep, stat!  This poor baby might live in the hall.  Aww, hell, who am I kidding, we know he/she will live in our room!!

Worries: Will I ever get a rest day?  Answer - NO.  You are a mom.  Thats ok :-P

This Week:
Run: 17 miles - felt good!!
Bike: 70 miles
Swim: 3 miles
Total: 90 miles

To Date:
Run: 239.1 miles
Bike: 1018 miles
Swim: 40.5 miles
Total: 1277.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to New Orleans!  Rob says he got some beads last year....NO WAY Nugget!!!

Week 19: Gettin' International!

Another week down - holy cow they are just flying by!  Can someone freeze time??  (Yeah I know all the mommies say that!)

Your Pregnancy: Week 19

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom —about the size of a bathtime boat! Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Total Weight Gain: Up 6 pounds.  Steady as she goes!  I have my OB appt tomorrow, the 5th (well today now) so we shall see what the official is for week 20!

My Body: Tummy is a showin!  Now that it's t shirt and skirt weather (thank goodness!!) it's pretty obvious that Nugget is growing!  The belly is a bit lower this time but not by much - I am still rockin the pre preggo pants and skirts without issue (or hair tie, the infamous stand in between regular and maternity pants!)

Cravings: Cheese was a biggie this week.  And burgers.  I must admit I did have two burgers out, which were friggin delicious and worth every grease bomb minute.  Greg and I did a mini baby moon getaway overnight to Niagara Falls so we enjoyed!

Aversions: Still the same.  I would like to claim an aversion to work - can I do that??  Working with HR to see if I can afford a mini stay cation and how many hours I can use to save enough for FMLA leave - I have no idea how I will get everything done before the sequel pops!

Sleep: Still wish I could laze at home and have no commitments - I am feeling much better than trimester 1 but am still SO TIRED.  I've also started the infamous preggo dreams, oh my.  Seriously, they are blush inducing and I'm not shy!

Baby Items Bought/Received: And the theme is...DIAPERS.  Again.  We are up to 1400 diapers, all for $97 out of pocket.  Sweet!  That should last what, 6 months?  LOL.  I also bought a baby sling - one of those buy free pay shipping so for $12.99 why not?  I figure it will come in super handy while entertaining a newborn and a toddler!

Best Baby Moment: Mom and Dad getaway to the Falls.  So wonderful. Nugget's first "trip"! And a big big thanks to Gramma for babysitting - Rob loved his overnight trip!

Goals: To get the show on the road with the baby room!  And to prep for mother's day - I am hosting a family brunch.  (No worries, we moved my mother's day to next weekend so all bets are off May 17th :-P)

Worries: NEED TO GET BABY THINGS AND HOUSE READY.  AHHH!!

BABY NUGGET ON THE MOVE!

This Week:
Run: 8 miles
Bike: 75 miles
Swim: 2 miles
Total: 85 miles

To Date:
Run: 222.1 miles
Bike: 948 miles
Swim: 37.5 miles
Total: 1187.6 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Orlando, Fla.  Rob would approve - he loves Mickey Mouse!!

Flower City Half Marathon 2015 - From Nugget Glaser, the 2033 winner.

Hi guys!  Nugget here.  Sorry that Mom and I are a bit behind with this, but she and I do alot of running around and work has been crazy for her lately!  Still, I said HEY.  MOM.  Slow down for 5 minutes and post my friggin awesome race, will ya?  And since I am the boss right now of her, she said ok.  So here goes.

Last weekend, Mom and I ran our first half marathon!  Sure, she's done lots of them, but none like this because I was with her!  We did a 5 mile race a few months ago and I had SO MUCH FUN that I wanted to do it again!  Granted, I do have to potty all the time, so I didn;t make training easy for Mom, but I told her - Mom.  We got this.  Let's race!  So we did. Every year, Yellow Jacket puts on an awesome race weekend called the Flower City Challenge - a du, a tri, a 5k and a half marathon.  Mom and Dad have both done the du and half before, and it's Mom's PR course!  She told me we wouldn't try for her PR but anything we did was a PR for me so we should just go and have fun!  I said ok but really I knew we could go faster than she wanted....I knew we HAD to beat Rob's PR of 2:10.  Cause just because he is the older brother doesn't mean he's faster than me!!

Race morning was perfect - high 40s, cloudy, and race conditions 100%.  Mom and I rode with our new running friends from Gananda, and had 2 pb english muffins and some coffee pre race.  Mom says don;t get used to the coffee - even though it's Robs favorite word now she says NONE of her kids get coffee cause it keeps you short (I think she is pulling my leg).  We said hello to people, stretched, hit the potty, and lined up at the start with the 2 hour folks.  Mom said we have to pace, Nugget, but this should help us beat some of the congestion!  And we were off!!

Miles 1-6:  As always, in the first 5 minutes I wanted to pass out.  Mom says this is normal, it takes your body a bit to get used to running!  So we tried to just breathe and enjoy the scenery.  The signs and cheerers were awesome - some of them were so funny!  (You think your legs are tired?  Try holding this sign for 2 hours!).  We clocked in miles 1 and 2 at right around 8:50-9:00 miles, and hit the 5k in 27:52.  Mom said we were racing smart- the middle part is SUPER hilly and we would slow down there.  We saw Gramma at mile 4 who gave us a GO GO!!  And some great bell ringing and we kept our pace through miles 5 (45:10) and mile 6 (54:23).  at mile 6 we saw a giant uphill, which Mom said we would make it through and there would be a surprise at the top....

Miles 7-10:  And there was!  There were Cousins Karen and Tom and Dad and Rob!  Rob looked mad at us....I told mom it's because we so were beating his PR.  She told me that Rob wasn't feeling good and to be nice to my brother and don't get too cocky, the hard part is coming!  I said fine but I knew we were kicking butt.  After that, we did slow down a bit mile 8 (1:14:03) and mile 9 (1:23:40) but we still were doing awesome.  We saw some of mommy's runner friends and got to run through a cemetery which was creepy but cool!  We saw Dad and Rob again at mile 9 in the cemetery (Rob wasn't scurred but I was!) and they gave us some gatorade and said go go go!! So we did.  Hit mile 10 in 1:33:30.

Miles 11-13.1(or .3)  This race is super cool cause the last 3 miles are flat or downhill, but most people blow themselves out on the hills.  Not me and mom!  We felt great.  We saw Gramma again at mile 11, and we were so amped!  Mile 11 in 1:41.  I got really excited and thought we might break 2 hours which would be AWESOME but Mom told me even thouigh we were fast guys there was no way we did that mile in 6 minutes.  She was right - we hit mile 12 in 1:52.  Darn.  Good thing she knows this course!!  The last mile was super great. We hit Rob's Dance mix (Loca Loca) on our Ipod and just bogeyed to the finish line (passing 3 people in the last quarter mile!) and busted through in 2:02:xx.  A pregnancy PR for mom and a big PR and awesome start for me - we averaged a 9:15 pace which rocks!!
Post Race: We found Rob and Daddy, and got some food.  Saw some of our buddies, and then got ready for Rob's race!  He got to run the 1/4 mile and it was his first solo race which he did awesome for - I hope I can do it in 2017!  He also got a medal which made me super jealous but Mom says the one they put around her neck is of course mine so it's ok.  I CAN'T WAIT TO RACE AGAIN!!!  I figure since Mom and me are two people we really did the race in 4:38 pace which is like a 1:01 half so watch out world - I'm gonna win this sucker in 2033!!!
