Week 18: Nugget, the Ultra star

Seems as if this is a milestone week!!

Your Baby in Week 18 of Pregnancy

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a balloon) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

momma and baby on the run!
Total Weight Gain: Up 5 pounds -wow!  Seems nugget is really fiending.  thats cool.  actual weight check next week so we'll see - I have no scale so I'm relying on the gym scale :-)

My Body: Well, its out.  Some of my acquaintances that don't see me that often think I have "popped".  I wouldn't say that but it's pretty evident in any situation that there's a lil something somethin brewin!  Up 4 inches in the tummy (and probably a whole cup size - yikes!)

Cravings: I'm so boring, but the theme is berries and nuts,  I would say I am gestating a bear, but I already have one of those so thats not possible!!

Aversions:  Added gravy to the mix.  Not that I even usually eat it, but the thought of gravy and stuffing makes me want to yak.  I smelled it in the lunchroom last week and that was it.  Other than that I feel pretty good!

Sleep: Still my BFF and never get enough.  I swear, if I could get everything done and pass out by 8pm I would be so happy.  But we just do what we can!

Baby Items Bought/Received: More diapers- I am a machine!  I scored a greap coup for CVS and ended up with 132 diapers for $4.50  YES!

Best Baby Moment: Nugget and I did our first half marathon this past weekend
Rob ready to race!!
and totally killed it.  And Rob raced too - such a proud momma!!

Goals: To spend some 1:1 time with my husband this weekend.  I sorta miss him!

Worries: I am so tired.  Will I really be ready for this kiddo??

Week 17: Is that a pasta hangover or a baby?

Here we go again!

Your Baby in Week 17 of Pregnancy

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a banana - Rob's favorite snack!), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Awww, the  nugget is getting so darn big!!  S/He is certainly letting me know lately, too....as I am ALWAYS hungry!  (About time!!!)

Total Weight Gain: 2.5 pounds.  Yay!  Yep, the only time you hear a woman cheer for weight gain, I know :-)

My Body: It's a gettin there!  You still can't tell with looser tops, but my bathing suit is a dead giveaway - I did NOT overstay my welcome at the Chinese Buffet, there's a little passenger aboard the tummy train!

Cravings: Fruit.  Cheese.  As always.  And now, cashews!  Raw is best, but roasted works too.  Deeelish.

Aversions:  Same ole suspects.  Nothing new to report :-)

Sleep: Is amazing.  I have no shame about a 9pm bedtime and a weekend nap.  Better pack it in while I can, right?  And I'm happy to report that Rob sleeps AWESOMELY in his new big boy bed - YAY!!

Baby Items Bought/Received: Paint for kiddo's room - a really neat shade of sherbet orange.  And we moved the crib in - I officially have a toddler now!!

Best Baby Moment: Nugget said Hi for Daddy and Rob this weekend - little tummy flutters :-)  Rob thought it was super funny.

Goals: Half Marathon coming up this week - can we beat the pregnancy PR of 2:09?  I was 14 weeks last time, so we shall see what happens!!

Worries: None right now.  Did I say that?

Week 16: Little Flutters

Your Baby in Week 16 of Pregnancy

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of a children's book : 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Aww, what a champ!  I can totally tell the lil one is growing, too - I feel like i have an elephant on my chest!!

Where's the tummy?

Total Weight Gain: Officially up 1 pound from PP weight - yay for the party dance!  I actually feel like it is way more - I can certainly tell I am pregnant even if no one else can!

My Body: Ugh.  I swear I got pregnant overnight, no kidding.  I realize that when I am wearing normal clothes, no one can tell, but I can!  out of breath, full feeling all the time, some awesome round ligamnet pain.  Hey, its all part of the deal - means a healthy kiddo is baking!  Now if we could just quit the nausea....thought we were done, and I still managed to worship the porcelain anti god this week.  Meh.

Cravings: Fruit.  Any kind.  I went to the dollar store and bought frozen mango (is that wrong?), pineapple, and strawberries.  I cut up a plate of oranges and apples after dinner and feast.  Yum.  Also, cheese is delicious.  As always.  And I found out that while 99% of yogurts are bad, that Fage works - hey, I must have a high class bebe, right??

Aversions:  Oatmeal and bananas.  And plain M&Ms.  And hummus.  Weird stuff.

Sleep: Bathroom breaks are still frequent, but if I am smart enough to focus my water mostly before dinner, I sleep more.  Rocket science, I know.  Also a few stressors this week that have kept me up, but I'm trying to work through them with yoga and deep breathing.

There it is!!
Baby Items Bought/Received: Just some more diapers - we are at 1100 for kiddo now!  So, like, 3 months worth.  LOL

Best Baby Moment: Nugget says hi!  Started feeling little flutters this week.  Hopefully s/he doesn't take after Rob, who played soccer in my tummy for 3 months!

Goals: Time to get the baby room started!  Rob is officially 1 week into exclusive toddler bed, so we are evacuating the crib.  And its time to paint!  Pics coming.

Worries: If I feel like I have a walrus on my chest NOW....oh man.  Not going there.

BABY NUGGET ON THE MOVE!

This Week:
Run: 18 miles
Bike: 62  miles
Swim: 2 miles
Total: 72 miles

To Date:
Run: 172 miles
Bike: 737 miles
Swim: 30.5 miles
Total: 926.5 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Atlanta...HOT Lanta!  baby wants some southern BBQ :-P  Oh, that sounds good.....

Week 15: Keep on Movin' on.....

Here we go!

Your Baby in Week 15 of Pregnancy

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of a sippy cup). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

Total Weight Gain - Down a pound.  Almost back to where I started!  Which, for the record, was 5 pounds above happy normal weight.  I ate all the cookies during Christmas and am now so glad I did!!)

My Body - Bout the same.  Greg says he can tell I am preggo, but only with a tank top on.  I took a "work bathroom selfie" this week A) Because I am classy like that and B) Because you cant tell anything.  Hey, it's all good.  If I don't have to see maternity clothes till month 5, I'm cool with it!
Cravings-  All of the fruit.  All of the time.  And cheese!!  It's funny - I've been under the illusion that this pregnancy is worlds differen than with Rob but here I am, craving the same things, same weight gain, basically same look as last time....so, it might NOT be an alien!  Those with better perspecitive also say I've been sick about the same, just um...ejecting it more.  And tired.  But hey, chasing a toddler is work :-)

Sleep - Still wish it was fashionable to go to bed at 7pm.  Or that I could afford to take a week off from work, send Rob to daycare and just friggin sleep.

Dapper Dad.  (my goofball!)
Baby Items Bought/Received - All of the diapers.  Bought 400 diapers at CVS for $35.  Woohoo!!  We have enough diapers for...a month.  Heh.  Easter bunny also borough me some maternity clothes.  I have some from Rob but it's always nice to have new things :-)

Best Baby Moment - Nugget and I ran 12 miles on Thursday!  It wasn't fast or anything, but it was great to do it - we tackle our first half marathon in 3 weeks and are feelin' good!  My training has sucked for this race so just knowing 12 miles was doable makes me feel good.

Worries - Found out they changed our maternity policy at work, and not in my favor.  Lame.  Looks like Ill either have to come back earlier or not get paid for part of it.  Go fund me, anyone?  (I am KIDDING!!)

BABY NUGGET ON THE MOVE!

This Week:
Run: 21 miles
Bike: 50  miles
Swim: 2.5 miles
Total: 73.5 miles

To Date:
Run: 154 miles
Bike: 675 miles
Swim: 28.5 miles
Total: 854.5 miles...or, the distance from Rochester NY to Nashville, TN....pretty fitting since Baby G2 is going line dancing with Mama and Dad this weekend!!

When Life hands you lemons...

Hoppy Almost Easter!  The sun is shining, it's 60 degrees out - beautiful!  Now if the snow permanently stays away, I will be a happy happy girl.  Yesterday was the first "real spring" day we had- opened the windows, grilled out, and when I dropped off the car for an inspection (it's in all day today) I opted to run the 12 miles home instead of find a ride.  It wasn't fast, but it was freakin gorgeous and I feel great about the Flower City Half in 3 weeks, which after my winter of non existent training is super awesome.  Today I am home with the kiddo - perks of working for a Catholic Agency - and we plan to watch Hop, make bunny crafts, and bake cookies with Dad and Gramma later on!  So nice to just relax and spend time with my son....he is such an awesome little guy and life gets in the way too much - gotta enjoy the quality time.  Which is why...every Easter dessert may be delicious, but not 100% homemade.  Cut out bunnies?  Yes.  But for Mom's group?  We brought in reinforcements.  They were DELISH.  And Easy.  And inexpensive.  Interested?  Check it out!

Easy Springy Lemon Loaf

1 box vanilla cake mix
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (Or you can use Real Lemon, I wont tell)
3/4 cup water
one 6 ounce container fat free lemon yogurt
4 egg whites (or two whole eggs)

Once again, a fools recipe.  Let egg come to room temperature for best results, then combine all ingredients in a large bowl and whisk away!  I used a square 10"x10" cake pan - Spray with cooking spray, add in the batter, and bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes.

Let cool for 30 minutes then slice it up - made 36 slices.

Sweet, but not too sweet.  Pleasantly tart, but not overly.  And if you're into that sort of thing, only 1 WWP per square.  Winning.

And it leaves time for more important things, like butter cream icing noses and finger painted bunny ears.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Week 14: It' SNOT fair

I call shenanigans.  Still threw up three times this week, and now I have a sinus thing going on.  Nugget better be a cute friggin baby (YOU HEAR ME KIDDO?)  Just kidding :-P  Either way, I feel as if I have a little dominator in my tummy - Momma is definitely not in charge of this kiddo quite yet :-P

Your Baby in Week 14 of Pregnancy

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.

In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches - about the size of a go go train (hey, toddler speak!) — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body.

Cool!  Seems as if the lil one if gaining and growing, even if growing pains for the vessel are part of it.  Still worth every bathroom trip and nausea bout, but darned if I don't have the same lovin' pregnancy thoughts this time!!!  Here's the week's deets....

Total Weight Gain - Down 1.5 pounds, but I attribute the 1.5 pound gain somewhat to bloat.  Holy cow, I feel like I swallowed a balloon!!

Cravings: Grapes, strawberries, pineapple.  And potatoes...yum!

My Body: Tummy is growing growing!  Still a small "I ate too much pasta" tummy and I have plenty of room in my jeans, but the cha channges are definitely happening!!
Sleep: Still so damn tired.  I managed to get the bug thts going around, and of course I cant take anything but Tylenol, which makes me throw up.  It'SNOT fair, really :-P
Baby Items Bought/Received: More diapers!  Up to 600 for nugget so far so...2 months.  LOL

Best Baby Moment: We started working on the nursery, which means that Rob took the honors this week....guess who is sleeping in a big boy bed (for naps?)  Such a BIG BOY!!!!  Also got hear hear the heartbeat again for nugget at my OB appt - a healthy 140 and s/he is moving around all over the place!!

Worries: Will food ever taste good again?  Will I ever go 3 days in a row without puking?  Just wondering.  Cause, I can't really remember.  I hear it does happen :-P (same as last week!!)

Goals - Again, the not feeling sick 24/7 would be an awesome thing.  Just sayin!

BABY NUGGET ON THE MOVE!

This Week:

Run: 3 miles
Bike: 70  miles
Swim: 3 miles
Total: 76 miles

To Date:
